What is kilowatt?

The kilowatt is a unit of power equal to 1,000 watts (1 kW = 1,000 W), the derived unit of power in the International System of Units (SI). It is also equal to 1,000,000 milliwatts (mW), or 109 microwatts (μW), or 0.001 megawatts (MW), or 10-6 gigawatts (GW) or 10-9 terawatts (TW).

1 kW = 1,000 W = 1,000 J/s = 1,000 N·m/s = 1,000 kg·m2/s3

(1 W = 1 J/s. The joule (J) is a derived unit of energy in the SI while the second (s) is a unit of time in the SI.)
