What is megajoule?

The megajoule is a unit of energy or work equal to 1,000,000 joules (1 MJ = 1,000,000 J), the SI derived unit of energy. It is also equal to 1015 nanojoules (nJ), or 1012 microjoules (μJ), or 109 millijoules (mJ), or 1,000 kilojoules (kJ), or 0.001 gigajoules (GJ) or 10-6 terajoules (TJ).

One megajoule is equal to one million joules. The joule is the energy consumed or work done when a force of one newton acts to move an object through a distance of one meter or the energy required to produce one watt of power for one second (1 J = 1 N⋅m = 1 W⋅s = 1 kg⋅m2/s2).

Note:
The SI is an abbreviation for the International System of Units.
