What is terawatt hour?

The terawatt hour (or terawatt-hour) is a unit of energy equal to 3.6x1015 joules (1 TWh = 3.6x1015 J), the SI derived unit of energy. It is also equal to 3.6x1012 kilojoules (kJ), or 8.6042065009x1011 kilocalories (thermochemical) (kcal), or 3.6x1015 watt seconds (Ws), or 1012 watt hours (Wh), or 1,000,000,000 kilowatt hours (kWh), or 1,000,000 megawatt hours (MWh) or 1,000 gigawatt hours (GWh).

The terawatt hour is used for metering large amounts of electrical energy to industrial customers.
