What is ounce-force?

The ounce-force is a unit of force equal to 0.278013851 newtons (1 ozf = 0.278013851 N), the SI derived unit of force. It is also equal to 278,013.851 micronewtons (μN), or 278.013851 millinewtons (mN), or 27.8013851 centinewtons (cN), or 0.0278013851 decanewtons (daN) or 2.78013851x10-4 kilonewtons (kN), which are units of force in the SI.

The ounce-force represents the amount of force applied by a mass of one avoirdupois ounce in a gravitational field (1 ozf = 1 oz x 9.80665 m/s2).

Notes:
(i) The SI is an abbreviation for the International System of Units
(ii) According to the General Conference on Weight and Measures, the standard gravity is 9.80665 m/s2 (or 32.1740 ft/s2)
(iii) The term "ounce" is also used as a unit of mass in the Imperial and US customary systems of units
